CEE at Illinois senior Lama Aoudi has been named a 2017 Knight of St. Patrick by the College of Engineering. One of the highest honors an engineering student can receive, the award is given to students who demonstrate leadership, excellence in character, and outstanding contribution to the college and its students.

Aoudi is pursuing a primary in Energy-Water-Environment Sustainability and a secondary in Environmental Engineering with a minor in Electrical Engineering. She served as the project lead for the Engineers Without Borders Soppo Likoko Electrification Project for three years, which provided a small community in southwest Cameroon with access to electricity. She is an Engineering Learning Assistant and CEE Student Adviser, and also serves on the Engineering Council’s Dean Student Advisory Committee and Service Committee. Aoudi was the recipient of the William C. Ackermann Sr. Civil Engineering Scholarship for 2016-2017 and was awarded the C.S. and Ruth Monnier Memorial Scholarship for 2015-2016.

After graduation, Aoudi plans to take a gap year to focus on fellowships in Energy and Policy before pursuing an interdisciplinary master’s degree in Energy-Economics-Policy.
